An Ogun state teacher identified as Mrs Folukemi Adeeko has emerged as one of the winners in the 2020 Maltina Teachers of the year competition in Nigeria.
Mrs Folukemi Adeeko, a teacher at the Patterson Memorial Baptist Grammar School, Idi Aba Abeokuta emerged 2nd runner up at this year edition of the Competition.
Presenting the award and a Cash prize of One million, two hundred and Fifty thousand naira (1,250) on behalf of the Nigerian Breweries PLC, Brewery Manager, Ibadan and Ijebu-Ode, Mr Tayo Ogundana said the National Competition which began six years ago was part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) to the people and an initiative of the Nigerian Breweries Education Trust Fund.
Applauding the Government for the immense support it has given to organisations and Industries within the state to thrive which in turn has made it the Industrial destination of choice nationwide, Mr Ogundana revealed that alongside the awards, a block of six classrooms will be constructed at the School from which she emerged.
Receiving the Best Teacher on behalf of the Ogun state government, the Deputy Governor Engr Noimot Salako-Oyedele said Ogun State prides itself in being first in everything including education and industrial development, adding that government was aimed at Improving and maintaining the ease of doing business environment currently present in the state.
While Re-emphasizing its continued support for Nigerian Breweries PLC, Salako-Oyedele said, the initiative would boost the moral of teachers in the state and compliment Government’s efforts at repositioning its education sector being one of the five pillars of this Administration.
Congratulating Mrs Folukemi Adeeko on her emergence, she encouraged her to do more in other competitions by emerging overall best, while challenging other teachers in the state to brace up for participation in such national competitions that will earn them good rewards and in turn bring glory to the state.
Also Speaking Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, observed that Nigerian Breweries was one of the Organisation that has taken its Corporate Social Responsibility importantly, promising more cooperation from the education ministry at large.
