Some people living in Magboro, a town in Ogun State, are unhappy about the terrible condition of the roads in their area. These roads connect several communities, including Makogi, Cele, Gasline, Powerline, and Igodo, to the Lagos-Ibadan Expressway. The poor state of the roads has made it difficult for people to travel and has caused problems for commuters.
The Chairman of the Accord/Charity Community Development Association in Makogi, Pastor Kehinde Solomon, has appealed to Governor Dapo Abiodun to fix the roads. He explained that the bad roads have led to car problems and increased transportation costs. For instance, the cost of traveling from Magboro to Makogi has gone up to N700, making it difficult for those who work in Lagos.
Residents have also reported that some commercial motorcyclists avoid the area when it rains because of the bad roads. The condition of the roads has made transportation more expensive, and people have to pay higher fares.
A woman named Abiola mentioned that she had to stop using her car because of the poor road conditions. Many residents have expressed frustration with the situation, including issues with power supply.
Some community members have taken it upon themselves to make some parts of the roads passable by contributing funds for repairs. They believe that self-help is the best way to address the problem.
The state Commissioner for Works, Ade Akinsanya, and the Chairman of Obafemi Owode Local Government Area, Adesina Ogunsola, were contacted for comments, but they have not responded yet. Ogunsola had previously mentioned plans to improve the roads in the area in June.
