Two individuals, namely Mohammed Ndatotu and an individual known as Lawal, have been apprehended by the Ogun State Police Command on charges of stealing a truck owned by Dangote cement company. The Ogun State Police Command’s spokesperson, Omolola Odutola, made this announcement in an official statement issued on a Friday.
Odutola explained that the arrest of these suspects was made in response to a report filed by a truck driver employed by the cement company based in Ibese. The driver alleged that his truck had been stolen while he had momentarily left the vehicle with his two assistants on board.
She stated, “In response to an incident involving a suspected stolen vehicle and the subsequent arrest of the culprits, a truck driver assigned to the cement company in Ibese reported that his truck, bearing license plate KPF 237 XA, was stolen while he temporarily left his two motorboys, identified as Mohammed Lawal ‘m’ and an individual with the last name ‘Ismail,’ inside the vehicle.”
“When the driver returned to the parking area on October 29, 2023, he discovered that his truck had vanished, and the two motorboys had absconded. However, it’s worth noting that the police later tracked down and apprehended one Lawal and Mohammed Ndatotu at Ogbere under the direction of the Ogere Divisional Police officer.”
The Police Public Relations Officer (PPRO) disclosed that, subsequent to their apprehension, the two suspects admitted to the theft of the vehicle, stating, “The two suspects, Lawal and Mohammed, have since confessRed to stealing the vehicle from its parked location. The police have initiated further investigations into the matter and are taking necessary legal actions.”
“It’s reassuring to see that diligent efforts are being made to uncover any additional information related to this incident and to bring any other individuals involved to justice. The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Mustapha, has made the recovery of the stolen truck a top priority and is urging cooperation from concerned citizens in providing information to help locate the missing vehicle,” she concluded.
