The Ketu Advancement Forum, a community group in Ogun State, has reached out to the National Assembly, specifically Senator Solomon Adeola, the representative of Ogun West Senatorial Constituency and sponsor of the bill. They are appealing for support in expediting the consideration and passage of a bill that proposes the establishment of the Federal College of Geological and Cement Studies in the Yewa North area of the state.
In a letter addressed to Senator Solomon Adeola and signed by Kunle Abiose, the Coordinator-General, and Dotun Adeleye, the Secretary-General, the group expressed their appreciation for the lawmaker’s initiative in sponsoring the bill. They noted that the bill had recently passed its first reading in the Senate. The community group emphasized the potential of the proposed college to contribute to the industrialization of both Ogun State and Nigeria, offering relevant skills to the youth to address labor market needs.
The group commended Senator Adeola for focusing on nurturing the next generation of human capital that can drive the industrialization of Ogun State and Nigeria, as well as support the government’s goal of diversifying the nation’s economy through the establishment of the college. They found his legislative acumen in this matter commendable and inspiring to the younger generations who are eager to acquire skills that will give them an advantage in the ever-changing local and international job market.
The community group underscored the importance of the college in Iselu and Ketuland, areas known for having one of the largest limestone deposits in Nigeria. They urged Senator Adeola to use his legislative influence to mobilize support for the bill’s swift passage and the subsequent establishment of the college.
In conclusion, they stated, “It is on this note that we like to fervently urge you to deploy all your legislative sagacity at mobilizing members of both Chambers of the National Assembly to kindly support the speedy passage of the bill and the establishment of the college.”
