The upcoming inaugural Ogun State Employment Conference aims to enhance employment prospects for the state’s youth while bridging the gap between global and local realities. In a press statement released in Abeokuta, Dr. Olu. Ola. Aikulola, who serves as both the Chairman of the Local Planning Committee for the Ogun State Employment Conference and the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Industry, Trade, and Investment, highlighted that this 2-day conference is a collaborative effort between the Ogun State Government and the German Government through the German Agency for International Cooperation (GIZ).
The statement further indicated that the conference, originally scheduled for the first week of September, will be officially inaugurated by the State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, alongside other prominent government officials. The event is set to take place on October 11 and 12, 2023, at the Olusegun Obasanjo Presidential Library in Abeokuta, beginning at 9:00 am.
The conference’s theme, “Addressing Employment and Job Creation in Ogun State – Leveraging Global and Local Opportunities,” will serve as a platform for policymakers, international development organizations, private sector networks, and various stakeholders in employment and labor markets to engage in discussions about key sectoral issues.
Additionally, the press release mentioned that a carefully planned job fair will follow the employment conference, likely occurring in the first or second week of November. This event will provide job seekers with the opportunity to interact with potential employers.
