Ogun State Government has raised the sum of N6B for youth empowerment in the 2021 appropriation bill.
Governor Prince Dapo Abiodun confirmed this during the presentation of the bill christened; ‘Budget of Recovery and Sustainability’, to members of the State House of Assembly, at the House of Assembly Complex, Oke-Mosan, Abeokuta.
The amount budgeted was to provide employment, empowerment and enabling environment for youths.
Abiodun noted that the major pillar in the ‘Building our Future Together’ agenda was the youth development and job creation, while explaining that several initiatives, such as jobs portal would be explored to tackle unemployment challenge.
He noted that Ogun State Youth Empowerment Scheme (OG_YES), a new internship scheme that would provide skills and job opportunities for about 10,000 artisans annually is a major project in the coming fiscal year.
