Everything is in place for the inaugural edition of the 5-Aside Street Soccer Competition dubbed “Iseya Cup 2022.”
In an interview with journalists in Abeokuta, the Ogun State Commissioner for Youth and Sports, Dr Oluwadare Kehinde, said the competition would help the state discover talents who would represent the state in national and international competitions.
Dr Kehinde, who was represented by Mrs Kuforiji Iyabode, Director of Administration and Supply, reaffirmed the current administration’s commitment to continue to create a conducive environment for private investors to thrive.
Mr Charles Williams, the competition’s initiator, stated that the 5-Aside Street Soccer Exhibition dubbed “Iseya Cup 2022” was part of the organization’s efforts to empower youths, eradicate social vices, and promote sporting activities among youths.
Mr Williams, who noted that over a thousand teams had expressed interest in competing, expressed optimism that the street soccer exhibition would also reveal hidden talent at the grassroots level.
