Four days after the Ogun State Police Command nailed the Kolab Hotel in Itele-Ota, where 22 teenage girls were rescued while prostitutes were rescued, investigations revealed that the business premises had been rebuilt.
According to the city government, the hotel on Kogi / Ejigun road at the Colab bus stop in Itele opened for business on Monday morning despite being accused of housing teenage sex workers.
Last Friday, based on reliable information, police raided the brothel, where it was found that minors lured by Aqua Ibom state between the ages of 10 and 14 had been turned into commercial sex workers.
State Police Public Relations Officer DSP Abimbola Oyeyemi said in a statement that the commando, which was coordinated by ACP Ota District Commander Muhideen Obe, broke into the hotel at around 8pm. on Friday and rescued 22 victims.
Oyeyemi said the teenagers’ admission was drawn to their respective villages in Akwa Ibom, Ogun state, with the promise of hiring them as shop assistants in restaurants and supermarkets.
“During interrogation, the girls described how they were pulled from their respective villages in Aqua Ibom state to go to Ogun state and promised to hire them as shop assistants in restaurants and supermarkets and then to Lagos and Lagos taken to brothels. in Ogun. as a commercial sex worker.
“During the operation, the hotel manager, 33 year old Isaac Ogbaji and 10 other suspects were also arrested.”
PPRO told The Guardian yesterday that the victims and those arrested had been handed over to the National Agency for the Prohibition of Trafficking in Persons (NAPTIP) for further processing.
When informed that the hotel was opened for business, PPRO said, “The hotel does not need to be locked, but if it has to be opened, NAPTIP will use its initiative.
“It is our duty to save these victims, reunite them with their families and bring those behind the crimes to justice. Therefore, there is no need to close the business premises unless they continue to operate. If they repeat it, we will do it. back there, go into the hotel and lock it.
