The displeased students  voiced their dissatisfaction with several other recent vice-chancellor regulations using the trending hashtag #AgboolaWhy on Twitter.

Some Olabisi Onabanjo University, Ago Iwoye, Ogun State students have taken to Twitter to protest Professor Agboola Johnson, the university’s new Vice Chancellor, for raising the school’s transcript cost from N8,000 to N40,000.

A user named Oluwabunmi Michael Awoyem condemned the new VC for turning the system that gave rise to him into something that the current generation could not handle.

“As Concerning OOUITEs, I Think We Should Begin to Pour Out Our Minds,” Oluwabunmi remarked. Let’s utilise #AgboolaWhy as a hashtag. The Vice Chancellor is Agboola! Let’s find out why he turned up the heat! We are finding it impossible to endure the same system he went through because of #AgboolaWhy.

“I’ve heard the VC attended this university once. #AgboolaWhy  Why did you decide to bother students throughout your term rather than considering the viewpoints of the students and responding to important issues that have been circulating for more than a week?” Boluwátifé D’1st, one of the aggrieved kids, made the statement.

Damilare Ademola, another user, claimed that all of the new VC’s policies were against the interests of the students.

The student stated, “I believe the new OOU VC, Prof. Agboola’s goal is to mark his administration with all kinds of anti-student regulations; from ‘no shoe, no entry’ to the newest, escalation of transcript cost from 8k to 40k; students are now demanding #Agboolawhy.

“The most amazing thing about this local transcript is that I found out about the price rise on the same day I was told to apply for it. We were also extorted when I was in my finals, and we paid the technology charge. #agboolawhy, “@Readgold1 from another user narrated.

The new VC, in the opinion of Akinrinade Funminiyi, is managing the organisation like a secondary school.

Says Funminiyi: “I believe there are more effective ways to incorporate certain ideas into the educational system because what OOU is now doing isn’t even close. Is it a secondary school or an higher academic institution?”

Another user, Eyan Seyi-Makinde said, “When no be say I no pay school fees for 4 years, now I wan collect transcript, this new OOU VC wey we never even christen, carry am from 8k to 40k,how do you explain that? To think the so called VC is even an alumnus is really absurd fr. Are we blaming FG for that too? (I paid tuition for four years and now that I need transcripts, the new VC increased the cost from N8,000 to N40,000.) #AgboolaWhy”
