More groups have continued to form solidarity fronts in support of the presidential ambitions of the All Progressives Congress (APC) candidate, Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
The Nigeria Diaspora for Asiwaju (NDA), an international political support group, held an event in Calabar, the capital of Cross River State, over the weekend.
Dr. Akin Badeji, Director-General of the Nigeria Diaspora for Asiwaju (NDA) Worldwide, expressed his delight at being among a legion of progressives.
He stated that the progressives are united in their support for Asiwaju Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s presidential bid, a cause he believes is in the best interests of the country.
Dr. Badeji described the APC presidential candidate as a visionary with a vast network both within and outside the country who has nurtured great leaders and contributed significantly to Nigeria’s growth and development.
The NDA Worldwide D-G also thanked Sir Dr Alfred Mboto for accepting the difficult task of being the NDA’s South-South patron, describing his induction as a well-deserved honor.

He expressed his delight at the positive assessment of the recipient, noting that, like Bola Tinubu, Dr Mboto’s record speaks for itself.
He urged the patron to use his vast experience to guide and support the NDA in the South-South region, while assuring him of the Association’s leadership assistance to the region in the common interest of Tinubu’s presidency. The DG also urged newly appointed executives in the region and state to live up to their roles as ambassadors for Tinubu’s presidential ascension.
Ambassador David Effiong Okon, the event’s chairman, stated that with the incoming president’s (Bola Tinubu) track record, where he transformed Lagos into a commercial and economic epicentre in Nigeria.
Tinubu is the consummate bureaucrat and bastion of democracy and good governance that Nigerians should demand as president, with eloquent testimonies of his human capacity development.
He thanked the large crowd for showing up despite the short notice, and compared Tinubu’s presidential ambition to “light over darkness.”
Alhaji Abiola Wasiu, National Deputy Director of the NDA, thanked the NDA leadership for deeming it necessary to come to Calabar and indeed the South-South to interact with NDA members with the common goal of expanding the frontiers of solidarity for Asiwaju Bola Tinubu’s presidential aspiration.

Alhaji Wasiu iterated, “this is a further confirmation of NDA’s dogged effort in canvassing for support for the presidential election victory for our principal, Asiwaju Bola Tinubu. The NDA has emerged as a foremost political support group both in Nigeria and the diaspora. It started in the United Kingdom and spread to North America, Nigeria, South Africa and most recently United Arab Emirates.”
Sir Dr Alfred Abeng Mboto, KSM was inducted as a patron by Alhaji Wasiu, who described him as a complete technocrat who has earned his place in the echelons of the state civil/public service, a trusted ally of the current administration of the State, and a source of pride for his people. He expressed confidence that Sir Mboto’s tutelage in the South-South region will be a huge asset in the APC’s quest for victory in the 2023 presidential elections.
Sir (Dr.) Alfred Mboto, the newly inducted patron, expressed gratitude to the NDA for considering him worthy of contributing his quota as South-South patron to the election of Bola Tinubu as President of Nigeria.
He promised to repay the support group’s trust in thought and action, where the message of Tinubu’s need in 2023 will be carried to the nooks and crannies of the entire region, nay Nigeria.
Others inducted were Comrade Iso Bassey Edim as NDA South-South Coordinator, Comrade Eyam Abeng as NDA State Director, Cross River State Chapter, and Mrs Glory Eka as Cross River State Coordinator.
The event, which culminated with a clarion call to action on political participation and voter registration, also featured an outpouring of goodwill messages, most notably from Dr. Tom Bassey, Chairman of Obubra Local Government Area; Prof. Enang Erena, Dr. (Mrs.) Grace Edi, and others.
