The Nigerian singer, Temilade Openiyi, also known as Tems, caused a stir on social media after her extravagant outfit obstructed the view of other attendees at the Academy Awards on Sunday night.

Tems was a nominee for Best Original Song for the “Black Panther: Wakanda Forever” track “Lift Me Up” at the 95th Academy Awards held in Los Angeles, California.

While some Nigerians and other netizens around the world praised her for the outfit, others criticized her for being flashy. Despite stunning on the red carpet with her puffy white gown that wrapped around the back of her head, those sitting inside the Dolby Theater probably did not love the implausible outfit.

Some Nigerians affirmed that she made her attendance known through her dress, while others criticized her.
