The management of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic (MAPOLY) in Abeokuta has announced that the school will remain closed indefinitely starting Monday, January 13, 2025, due to ongoing student protests.
The protests are a result of the school’s decision to verify the National Diploma results of students from their previous institutions. The school said the closure is necessary to protect people and property, as some students are unhappy about the verification process.
Yemi Ajibola, the school’s spokesperson, confirmed the closure in a statement on Monday, explaining that it was done to ensure safety due to the protests. The school is firm on preventing fake results and advised students to stay away from campus for their own safety.
Additionally, students are protesting alleged increases in tuition fees and delays in the mobilization of Higher National Diploma students for the National Youth Service Corps.
