Peter Obi, the Labour Party (LP) candidate in the 2023 presidential election, has officially rejected the verdict of the Presidential Election Petitions Tribunal (PEPT), which upheld the electoral victory of President Bola Tinubu from the All Progressives Congress (APC) in the general election held on February 25.
Obi made this announcement during a press briefing held on Thursday evening in Onitsha, Anambra State. His decision aligns with that of Atiku Abubakar, the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) candidate, who also rejected the PEPT’s judgment.
The PEPT had issued its rulings on Wednesday in response to petitions filed by the PDP, LP, and Allied Peoples Movement (APM) and their respective candidates against Tinubu and the APC.
Peter Obi stated that he has directed his legal team to take the necessary steps to appeal the PEPTs judgment to the Supreme Court of Nigeria in accordance with the provisions of the 1999 Constitution (as amended).
