Abeokuta – As part of ongoing efforts to enhance the efficiency of the Ogun State Civil and Public Service, Governor Dapo Abiodun has approved the appointment of two new Permanent Secretaries. This was disclosed in a statement signed by the Head of Service, Mr. Kehinde Onasanya.
According to the statement, the appointments are in line with Section 208(c) of the 1999 Constitution (as amended) and were based on merit, professionalism, inclusiveness, and seniority. The newly appointed officials were selected from a pool of Directors who excelled in the Ogun State Pipeline Leadership Development Programme, a capacity-building initiative designed to prepare directors for leadership roles.
The new Permanent Secretaries are:
- Dr. Ogunsanya Wellington Olaitan, a Consultant Surgeon and former Director of Planning, Research, and Statistics at the Ogun State Hospitals Management Board. Dr. Ogunsanya joined the Ogun State Civil Service on June 2, 1992, and holds a Bachelor of Medicine and Surgery (MBBS) degree from the University of Ibadan, obtained in 1989.
- Mr. Abdul Suraj Olubamiro, a seasoned Physiotherapist and former State Director of Physiotherapy and Medical Rehabilitation. Mr. Abdul joined the service on May 20, 1991, and holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Physiotherapy from the University of Lagos (1990) and a postgraduate degree in Planning, Research, and Statistics from the Federal University of Agriculture, Abeokuta (2011).
The statement urged the new appointees to demonstrate unwavering dedication, diligence, and selflessness in their roles. They are also expected to collaborate effectively with stakeholders to advance the “Building Our Future Together” agenda championed by Governor Abiodun.
The swearing-in ceremony for the new Permanent Secretaries will be conducted by the governor at a date to be announced.
