Joao Felix, in his media appearance on Tuesday ahead of Barcelona’s Champions League encounter with Porto, provided intriguing insights into his experience at his new club, particularly regarding the player who has left the strongest impression on him.
“The player who has surprised me the most is Frenkie. I already knew him from watching on TV, but being up close is a whole different experience. It gives you a different perspective on his game and his control. The way he comprehends the game and his style of play,” he conveyed to reporters.
Felix also responded to inquiries about why he appears to be much happier playing for Barcelona as opposed to his parent club, Atletico Madrid.
“As I’ve mentioned on multiple occasions, the disparity between Barcelona and Atletico is evident in various aspects, including the team and the club,” he explained.
“We can see the contrasting styles of play between Barcelona and Atletico. This doesn’t imply that one is superior to the other, but I find it easier to adapt to Barcelona’s style of play. I needed a change of scenery. Now, I’m content, my family is content, and that’s what matters most.”
Regarding Wednesday’s match, which brings Felix back to Portugal, he believes Barcelona will face “the toughest opponent in the group” and acknowledged that it will be a “special” match for him.
