In the Sagamu Local Government Area of Ogun State, a distressing incident unfolded as a police inspector and two security guards fell victim to suspected armed robbers.
The harrowing episode took place early today during a daring robbery operation that targeted a local hotel. In a tense standoff, police officers valiantly engaged the robbers in a fierce gun battle.

The wounded law enforcement officer and the vigilant security personnel were later rescued and rushed to the Olabisi Onabanjo Teaching Hospital (OOUTH) in Sagamu for medical attention.
The details of this alarming incident were communicated to the public through an official statement issued by the Ogun State Police Public Relations Officer, Omolola Odutola.
According to Odutola’s account, the Sagamu Area command received a distress call at approximately 1 a.m., alerting them to the presence of armed hoodlums at the Remo Majestic Hotel in Sagamu.
Upon receiving this urgent report, a swift and coordinated response was initiated. A combined team of determined police officers was swiftly mobilized and dispatched to the scene of the crime.
As the police officers arrived at the Remo Majestic Hotel, they were met with a hail of bullets from the brazen robbers, who had already initiated sporadic gunfire.
Undeterred by the danger, the police officers courageously engaged the armed criminals in a fierce exchange of gunfire.
In the midst of this chaotic and perilous encounter, two of the suspected robbers sustained fatal gunshot wounds, while their accomplices managed to escape into a nearby bush, bearing the scars of bullet wounds.
Subsequent to the confrontation, a meticulous search of the robbers’ possessions yielded an array of incriminating items. Among the items recovered were two locally crafted single barrel guns, four unexpended cartridges, and a cache of 13 expended cartridges.
Additionally, a large pair of scissors, 10 Android phones, one Java phone, and a conspicuous white Toyota Venza car bearing registration number BWR 123DD Abuja were also confiscated as evidence.
In response to this grave incident, the Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Abiodun, issued an immediate directive to launch an extensive manhunt for the two fleeing suspects who had managed to evade capture, despite suffering gunshot wounds during the confrontation. The pursuit of justice and the safety of the community remained paramount as law enforcement agencies mobilized to bring the perpetrators to justice and restore security to the area.
