Hon. Terfa Kudi, a member representing Makurdi North state constituency in the Benue State House of Assembly under All Progressive Congress (APC), announced that his constituents were suffering because of the country’s growing insecurity.
Hon. Kudi made this known in a press statement with journalists on the sidelines of the two-day zonal public hearing on constitution review, holding in Jos the Plateau State capital.
He said about 70 percent of his constituents have been dismissed from their ancestral homes, who are predominantly farmers and can not go back to their farmlands
Kudi said that his people now takes refuge in the Internally Displaced Persons (IDPs) camps, and they do not have food.
Kudi expressed concern that people could be attacked even in the city of Makurdi if serious security measures were not taken to contain the attacks.
“The assailants are almost taking over the entire Makurdi town since, they can successfully attack communities at the outskirts of Makurdi. Government is doing its part, but more efforts need to be deployed,” he added.
According to him, the attackers fired the four departments of the council that made up North Makurdi.
