Governor Dapo Abiodun has responded to the allegations made by the impeached chairman of Ijebu East Local Government Area of Ogun State, Wale Adedayo, regarding the alleged diversion of Councils’ funds. Abiodun categorically stated that Adedayo lied about him, and he emphasized the importance of upholding party discipline within the All Progressives Congress (APC).
During a meeting with APC leaders in Ijebu East Local Government, led by former House of Representatives member Chief Segun Osibote, Governor Abiodun expressed his commitment to defending himself against Adedayo’s allegations. He stressed the need for party members to abide by the party’s constitution and be accountable for their statements and actions. Abiodun believed that individuals should face the consequences of their words and actions to deter dishonesty.
The Governor further stated that Adedayo had made false allegations against him, tarnished his reputation, and attempted to incite the public against the government. Abiodun asserted that Adedayo must answer for these allegations one by one, and he was prepared to hold him accountable.
Abiodun underlined the importance of instilling discipline in governance and the party, emphasizing the need for accountability in words and actions. He asserted that individuals must be held responsible for what they say, and he was determined to ensure that Adedayo was held accountable for his statements.
Governor Abiodun also clarified that he had known Adedayo for many years and had supported him even before becoming Governor. He mentioned his previous appointment of Adedayo as a media consultant and emphasized that Adedayo was not his enemy.
Abiodun explained that local government funds are allocated directly to the local government’s account, where they are used for various purposes, including salaries for health workers, teachers, local government staff, and traditional rulers. He refuted Adedayo’s claim of diverting local government funds.
Governor Abiodun concluded by warning against any attempts to destabilize the peace and harmony prevailing in the State.
