Former Vice Chancellor, Obafemi Awolowo University

•            Born in London on April 4, 1946.

•            He attended secondary school at Kings College, Lagos. He obtained a BSc and his medical degree at the University of Ibadan. He then undertook his postgraduate training at the University of Edinburgh. In 1981, he was elected as a Fellow of the West African College of Physicians in the Faculty of Psychiatry.

•            He is also a Fellow of the Royal College of Physicians of London.

•            He spent most of his work life at the Obafemi Awolowo University and its teaching hospital.

•            He is a renowned psychiatrist and former Vice Chancellor of OAU and former Chief Medical Director of OAUTH.

•            He became a Professor of Psychiatry in 1984.

•            Between 1989 and 1997, he served as Chief Medical Director of the Obafemi Awolowo University Teaching Hospital.

•            He served as Vice Chancellor of the Obafemi Awolowo University from 1999 to 2006, the first two years in an acting capacity. He retired from the university in 2011.

•            He served as Chairman of the Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria from 2010 to 2011.

•            Professor Roger Olatokunbo Aderibigbe Makanjuola is a trustee and founder of the Foundation for the Care and Resettlement of the Mentally Ill (CAREMI).
