“I had unwavering confidence in a favorable judgment from the tribunal,” stated Dapo Abiodun, the Governor of Ogun State. He expressed his consistent belief that the Ogun State Governorship Election Petitions Tribunal would validate his victory in the March 18 governorship election in the state. Abiodun made these remarks in response to the tribunal’s recent decision, which upheld his win and rejected the petition submitted by the Peoples Democratic Party’s governorship candidate, Ladi Adebutu, challenging the election results.
In a statement released by his Chief Press Secretary, Mr. Lekan Adeniran, Abiodun asserted, “We never had any doubt that our hard-earned victory would be confirmed. We placed our trust in God after tirelessly campaigning in every corner of Ogun State. We secured a fair and legitimate victory, and it was well-deserved.”
He also extended an invitation to the opposition to set aside their differences and collaborate with him in the mission to develop Ogun State.
The Chairman of the All Progressives Congress in Ogun State, Chief Yemi Sanusi, remarked that this victory would motivate the governor to work even harder to deliver the benefits of democracy to the citizens.
