Daniel Chigozie, 30, of Abela in Sango Ota, Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Ogun State, was arrested by Amotekun Corps operatives for allegedly selling his nine-month-old son to three different buyers.
The commandant of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun State, David Akinremi, stated that the security agency received intelligence that the father had serially traded his son, Daniel Chinonye Darlington, to three different buyers in the Sango, Meiran, and Apapa areas of Lagos.
According to Daily Post, the man received N150,000, N400,000, and N700,000 from unknown buyers between August 2022 and February 2023.
According to Akinremi, an investigation conducted by the corps revealed that the man, who is suspected of working with a criminal syndicate, devised a method for retrieving the son from each of the buyers after each sale until he sold him to the final buyer, one Dr. Nosa in Apapa.
According to Daily Post, the suspect confessed to the crime in his statement and is being profiled by the National Agency for the Prohibition of Human Trafficking for a follow-up investigation to recover the child and for prosecution.
