Ogun State government has described Information and Communication Technology, ICT as a significant engine that propels all round development of any serious Nation, hence the need for all and sundry to invest in it for better education standard.
The Governor of Ogun State, Prince Dapo Abiodun, represented by the State Commissioner for Education, Science and Technology, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu who made this call during the Official Commissioning and Handing over of ICT/CBT Centre, facilitated by the Chairperson, Nigerian Deposit Insurance Corporation, NDIC, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun at Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro mentioned that the current administration in the State had invested so much on ICT across the State in order to ensure overall academic development in schools. Prof. Arigbabu while appreciating the donor, Mrs. Ronke Sokefun for the landmark achiement posited that the centre will drastically reduce the stress of traveling from that axis of the State to other parts of the country, especially for JAMB examination.
He therefore enjoined the school management to ensure adequate monitoring and maintainance of the project. “The present administration in the State had invested so much in ICT. Billions of Naira has been spent on ICT across the State which is another bold step of this administration to take ICT education to higher height.
“The sincere involvement and collaboration of individual philanthropists, groups, organisations and Private sector in the development of ICT education in the State is most welcome”, he said. Speaking, the donor, who was also an old student of the school, while appreciating the State government for the enabling environment provided for the initiative, appealed to the government, the school authority, teachers and the students to make sure that the facility was well utilised so as to serve the purpose for which it was executed Earlier in his welcome address, the Principal of Comprehensive High School, Ayetoro, Senior, Mr. Sekumade who expressed gratitude to the initiator of the project, pledges to reciprocate the gesture by ensuring that the students receive the best of teaching and learning process to enable them utilise the opportunity maximally. In her remarks, the Head Girl of the school, Mujeebat Ayokunle appreciated the fact that the progress was happening in their time. She promised on behalf of other students to do everything in their ability to protect the project in order for it to last longer.
