The Department of State Services, DSS, arraigned four suspected terrorists in Ogun State on Wednesday.
They appeared before a Chief Magistrate’s Court in Isabo, Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State.
On December 9, 2022, the suspects Aliu Abubakar, Abubakar Usman, Abubakar Amadu, and Adamu Aliu were apprehended.
They were arraigned in a suit marked MISC/15/2023, between them and the State, for terrorism and kidnapping.
According to the Prosecution Counsel, Emmanuel Zamba, the DSS filed an exparte motion in the case on March 15.
According to Zamba, the motion sought an order remanding the suspects in prison in a five-paragraph affidavit.
He stated that the suspects were arrested for terrorism and kidnapping within the jurisdiction of the court, and that the offenses violated Sections 2 and 3 of the Terrorism (Prevention and Prohibition) Act, 2022.
“We are praying for an order of this honourable court to detain the defendants in the custody of the Nigeria Correctional Service for 30 days,” he stated.
Chief Magistrate M. O. Osinbajo granted the order in his ruling, but adjourned the case until April 17 for further reports from the security agency.
