The Ogun State Amotekun Corps in Sagamu has arrested four suspected cultists for allegedly stealing phones and accessories.
The suspects were identified by the Commander of the Amotekun Corps in Ogun, David Akinremi, as Abiodun Durojaye (32 years), Ganiyu Femi (19 years), Ariwoola Toheeb (22 years), Olufemi Olawale (18 years) and Umar Abdullahi (28 years).
Akinremi said, “They were arrested for alleged conspiracy, stealing a Samsung S10 android phone with other accessories, as well as cultism”.

According to reports, the suspects attacked one Osikoya Noah (14 years) of GRA Sabo, Sagamu at Ajegunle Junction on August 4, 2022, around 7 a.m., while he was on his way home from a church service.
They allegedly threatened Noah with death if he did not hand over his Samsung S10 Android phone to them, claiming to be members of the Aiye secret cult.
The victim surrendered his Samsung phone worth N140,000 and an electronic power bank worth N20,000 to the gang in exchange for a death threat.
“When our operatives got wind of this, they swung into action, which led to the arrest of the four suspects, who in their statements, confessed the commission of the crime including their membership of Eiye cult group operating in Sagamu as well as their involvement in the killing of rival cult members in recent times.

“They also admitted selling the telephone handset and power bank to one Umar Abdullah ‘M’, a second hand phone dealer in Ogere for N20,000.00,” the Amotekun commander, Akinremi said.
The commander hinted that “the criminal receiver was consequently arrested after painstaking surveillance and he admitted receiving the stolen items from one of the suspects mandated to dispose it but that he has in turn sold the items to an unnamed person.”
Items recovered from the said receiver, Umar Abdulahi, include 10 Tecno Android phones; two small Tecno phones; eight Infinix Android phones; seven Samsung Android phones; three Vivo Android phones; two Nokia Android phones; three Gionee Android phones; two Honor Android phones and one iPhone.
Others are: two Hawaii Android phones; one Itel Android phone; one china Android phone; one Phicomm Android phone and one Oppo Android phone.
Akinremi listed other recovered items to include: 44 different kinds of second-hand phones, 39 pouches, five phone cases, 19 cartons, seven phone batteries, one Infinix charger, seven phone plates, three new Airtel sim cards, and 10 used sim cards.
The suspects and the items recovered have been handed to the police, Akinremi told
