On Thursday, during the inaugural commercial flight of the Gateway Agro Cargo Airport, located in the Ikenne Local Government Area of Ogun State along Iperu-lishan road, Vice President Prof Yemi Osinbajo praised Governor Dapo Abiodun for the project’s success. Osinbajo described the airport as a remarkable, world-class undertaking that should be replicated.
The VP highlighted the Agro Cargo Airport’s significance as the driving force behind the nation’s economy, commerce, and business.
“This airport isn’t just the best in Nigeria, it is a world-class airport that we are here to see.
“Ogun State has definitely taken a huge step in fulfilling the dreams of our forebears, the dreams of Chief Obafemi Awolowo and the dreams of others, the dreams of a vibrant modern and industrious community leaving together in.peace and prosperity.
“A dream of Ogun State that is the engine room of our nation’s economy and our nation’s commerce and business.

“In a few months, the Kajola Dry Port will also be operational and I am confident that this airport will transform the entire South-West region and serve as catalyst for economic growth and the development of our nation and sub region,” he said.
During the aviation event, the Minister of Aviation, Hadi Sirika, also spoke and emphasized the role of airports in connecting businesses. He acknowledged that while the benefits of the Gateway Agro Cargo Airport may not be immediately apparent, its potential to transport goods and products across various locations is invaluable and cannot be measured.
In his remarks, Governor Abiodun acknowledged former Governor Gbenga Daniel’s vision and dream, which has now come to fruition with the inauguration of the airport. He further stated that the airport aligns with his administration’s objective to create a suitable environment for industries to thrive and succeed within the state.
The governor also pointed out that the chosen location offers easy accessibility from different parts of the state.
