The statement from Tomi Coker, the governor’s health adviser, warns that cholera can be severe, causing dehydration and even death if not treated promptly. They advise people to report cases to health facilities and practice good personal and environmental hygiene.
Residents should use clean water, treat it before use, and cook food thoroughly. Open defecation should be avoided, and caution exercised in food and water choices due to the risk of contamination.
According to a local resident, there have already been four casualties due to the outbreak, and efforts are underway to address the emergency.
