Wale Adedayo, who used to be in charge of Ijebu East Local Government in Ogun State, was released by a government agency called the Department of State Services (DSS).
His lawyer, Barrister Kayode Akinsola, said on Monday, “Wale Adedayo was released to me by the DSS a few minutes ago. Many thanks to everyone for speaking up.”

Adedayo was put in custody by the DSS last Friday. This happened after he got an invitation from the government because they received a complaint against him.
He got into trouble shortly after accusing the state’s governor, Dapo Abiodun, of not giving the local governments the more than N17 billion they were supposed to get from the federal government in the last two years.
People also say that the governor is the one who made sure Adedayo lost his job as the local government’s leader.
A news source called SaharaReporters told everyone that Adedayo wrote a letter to a former governor named Aremo Olusegun Osoba. In the letter, he said that Governor Abiodun told the boss of the Road Transport Employers Association of Nigeria (RTEAN) in the state, Akibu Efele, and some people from the Black Axe group in Ijebu Ode to harm him.
In the letter, Adedayo also said that there hasn’t been any money given to the local governments in the state since they started their work in 2021.
He asked Osoba to quickly step in and talk to Abiodun. He wanted Abiodun to make sure the local governments got the federal money they should have, as it’s written in the 1999 Constitution.
Adedayo also said that this problem of not getting their federal money started when the former governor, Ibikunle Amosun, was in charge.
But Governor Abiodun said Adedayo’s claims were not true. He said that his government had to give extra money to the local governments to help them do their jobs.
According to him, the local government funds are managed by a group called the Joint Account and Allocation Committee, which the Constitution recognizes.
