After a pulsating fight in the male 64kg category of the tournament, Dayo Daniel was declared winner over Kasali Moshood. And, was later voted as the best boxer of the tournament for his impressive performance.
Daniel is of Champion Boxing Club while Moshood is from PLC Boxing Club.
The tournament which held last weekend at the Ake Sports Center in Abeokuta is the second edition of the boxing tournament.
Also, in the 49kg category, Ayobami Adekunle of Tit4tat Boxing Club defeated Seyi MOyede of Onipapa Boxing Club. Iyabo Ajisafe of 3star Boxing Club knocked out Maselese Boxing Club’s Adesanya Fatima in the first round of their 51kg female bout.
And, in the 56kg category, Tajudeen Ismaila of Lion Boxing Club defeated Hammed Odebiyi of Ifo Boxing Club by majority decision.
Meanwhile, Oyeneye Mistura of Dove Academy Boxing Club walked over Habibat Jibril of Maselese Boxing Club. The latter failed her medicals earlier in the day in the female 56kg category.
The male 60kg category saw Muyideen Adeleke of Voltron Boxing Club beat Toheeb Hazzan of 3star Boxing Club. Dove Academy’s Damilola Shodipe defeated Olushina Boluwatife of Jeje Ultimate Boxing Club. Damilola won by a unanimous decision in the female 60kg category.
Sponsors of the boxing tournament are the Lagos Boxing Hall of Fame, GOtv Boxing, and The Nation Newspapers.
The boxing tournament is South West Zone Nigerian Boxing Federations’ effort at discovering young talents.
It will extend to other states within the zone says the Federation. This is the fallout of its successes in Lagos state and now Ogun state.
