Nigeria Police Force, under Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has announced the National Youth Leadership and Security Initiative to commemorate International Youth Day 2026.
The event, which will include the launching of a book authored by ACP Olabisi Okuwobi, will take place from Thursday, August 20, to Saturday, 22, 2026, at the Nigeria Police Resource Centre in Jabi, Abuja, under the United Nations theme: “Different Contexts, Common Aspirations.”
The three-day initiative focuses on five core strategic pillars: leadership, security, innovation and enterprise, responsible citizenship, and digital responsibility.

A key focus of the programme is two national behavioural change campaigns: “My Future Is Greater Than Political Thuggery,” aiming to steer youths away from violence ahead of the 2027 General Elections, and “Think Before You Click. Verify Before You Share,” targeted at combating misinformation, cyberbullying, and deepfakes.
Activities will include the official release of the youth advocacy book, “Esteemed Youths, a “Made-in-Nigeria Digital Innovation and Enterprise Showcase,” community outreach, a tree planting initiative, short movie skits, and a Youth Honours and Awards ceremony celebrating young achievers across multiple sectors.
Through these programmes, the Force aims to deepen police-youth trust and foster preventive policing through strategic engagement.
