The Federal Government of Nigeria has declared Friday, April 3, and Monday, April 6, 2026, as public holidays to mark the Easter celebration.
The announcement was made by the Minister of Interior, Olubunmi Tunji-Ojo, on behalf of the government.
In a statement issued by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Interior, Magdalene Ajani, the minister congratulated Christians in Nigeria and across the diaspora on the occasion.
He urged Nigerians to reflect the values of selflessness, forgiveness, patience, and love, as demonstrated in the life and teachings of Jesus Christ.
Tunji-Ojo also encouraged citizens to uphold tolerance and a strong sense of community, noting that these values are essential for promoting national unity.
He reaffirmed the government’s commitment to policies aimed at fostering national renewal, economic growth, and shared prosperity for all Nigerians.
