South African singer Tyla has won the Best African Music Performance award at the 2026 Grammy Awards, edging out Nigerian stars Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr.
She claimed the honour with her song Push 2 Start, defeating Burna Boy’s Love, Davido’s With You featuring Omah Lay, Ayra Starr and Wizkid’s Gimme Dat, as well as Hope & Love by Eddy Kenzo and Mehran Matin.
The category, created to showcase African music on the global stage, once again saw strong Nigerian representation, with three Nigerian artistes — Burna Boy, Davido and Ayra Starr — among the final nominees.
Tyla has now won the award twice since the category was introduced in 2024. She made history that year by winning the inaugural prize with her breakout hit Water.
