Celebrity Nigerian actor Sunday Akinola, as Baba Feyikogbon, passed away in the 1980s.
On Monday, the renowned actor passed away. He was 80.
The actor’s passing was revealed on Instagram by Sulaimon Aremu, a singer and lyricist better known by the stage name Ajobiewe.
The Feyikogbon series, the elder statesman and actor’s well-liked weekly sitcom, brought him to public attention in the 1980s and 1990s.
For more than 13 years, the programme was shown on NTA Channel 7 Lagos.
Despite the fact that the cause of death was not made public, Mr. Akinola, who was born on September 19, 1942, had kidney problems for years before asking for assistance in 2019.
He had made a public appeal for N30 million to travel abroad for kidney failure and hypertension treatment; in 2014, he unhappily admitted in an interview that his well-known play only brought him celebrity and not cash.
On one of DStv’s Africa Magic channels, a new version of the program created by Yinka Ogundaisi began broadcasting that same year.
Yoruba actors have taken to social media platforms to mourn the actor.
