President Bola Tinubu’s administration is seeking approval for a N1.5 billion expenditure to procure vehicles for the First Lady’s office. This request is part of the 2023 supplementary budget presented to the National Assembly, which has passed the second reading in the House of Representatives.
Despite the prevalent poverty and hardships in the country, the budget also includes N19.3 billion for purchasing vehicles for the President and renovating the Presidential and Vice Presidential lodges in Abuja and Lagos. An additional N3 billion is allocated for the acquisition, renovation, and rehabilitation of two Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) quarters at Guzape and Mabushi, designated as the State House Complex.
The Nigerian Navy is proposing a capital expenditure of ₦42.3 billion and a recurrent expenditure of ₦20.42 billion, with ₦5.095 billion allocated for the acquisition of a presidential yacht.

Moreover, the supplementary budget reveals that Tinubu’s administration intends to spend N2.9 billion on SUV purchases, N2.9 billion on the replacement of operational pool vehicles, N4 billion on the renovation of Mr. President’s residential quarters, N2.5 billion on the renovation of Aguda House (the Vice President’s residence), N200 million on computerization and digitalization of the State House, N4 billion on the construction of an office complex within the State House, N4 billion on the renovation of Dodan Barracks (the official residence of the President), and N3 billion on the renovation of the official quarters of the Vice President in Lagos.
