The leadership of the People’s Democratic Party, South West Zone has approved the constitution of the Transition Reconciliation and Congress Committees (TRC) in the South-western states of Lagos, Ogun, Oyo and Ekiti, saying the TRC committees were set up to reconcile the warring factions in the South West PDP.
Recall that Tajudeen Oladipo, national vice-chairman, South West, PDP, had earlier constituted the Transition, Reconciliation and Congress Committees (TRC) in the South-West of Lagos, Oyo, Ekiti and Ogun but was greeted with total criticism and rejection from South West PDP Zonal Executive Committee and other party faithful. Rising from the PDP Zonal Executive Committee meeting held on Monday in Abeokuta, the capital of Ogun State, the leadership of the party reviewed all the positions of the party, especially the national positions zoned to the South West with a view to reaching the common ground and to field competent and suitable candidates for the PDP national offices, enjoined all party faithful in the South West to partake in the PDP congresses.
The communiqué issued at the end of the meeting read: “ The meeting x-rayed the setting up of the Transition, Reconciliation and Congress Committees by the Zonal Secretariat and resolved to approve the activities of the Zonal Secretariat and the setting up of these committees.
‘’The meeting enjoined all party faithful across the South West to come out and participate in the forthcoming congresses as a level playing fields has been provided in all states across the zone.’’ Meanwhile, the TRC Committee Chairman in Ogun State, Bode Mustapha, has commended the approval of PDP TRC Committees in Lagos, Ogun, Ekiti and Oyo States by the Zonal Executive Committee, saying the approval would guarantee a perfect reconciliation, before and after the PDP congresses in the South West.
Mustapha said the constitution of the PDP TRC Committees in South West, would not only reconcile the warring factions of the party, but would also return the party to glorious past by providing faultless avenues for the party to regain the lost political seats in the Southwest. He, however, implored the state executives in the affected states to cooperate with the PDP TRC Committees in order for both of them to reach common goals and deliver fruitful results for the party.
