The Ogun State Police Command, in collaboration with the Vigilante Group of Nigeria, has apprehended seven suspected cultists and recovered firearms, three live cartridges, and criminal charms in Shagamu, Ogun State, following a cult clash between two rival groups known as Aiye and Eiye, which resulted in the death of four individuals in the Ewu Iya area of Sakura.
The arrested suspects include Asaiye Omolaja, Azeez Nofiu, Mathew Adewale, and Bolaji Ogunkemaya, with Bolaji Ogunkemaya being found in the same room where the killings occurred alongside four deceased individuals.
One of the suspects, Bolaji Ogunkemaya, revealed that their leader is known as Azubike, aka Better.
The Commissioner of Police, Alamutu Mustapha, visited Sagamu to assess the situation and profile all the apprehended suspects. He issued a stern warning to all cultists in Ogun State, stating that their activities would no longer be tolerated, and those caught would face severe punishment.
The statement emphasizes that a successful raid, led by ACP Shehu Alao in collaboration with the VGN, was carried out in response to the cult clash report. CP Mustapha has declared a zero-tolerance policy towards senseless killings and assured that none of the cultists involved will escape punishment.
Additionally, the Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Abiodun Alamutu, confirmed on Monday that eight people were killed during the cult clashes in the Sagamu area of Ogun State.
