Four young men who are alleged members of a robbery gang based in Lagos have been arrested by the police in Ogun State. The suspects were accused of terrorizing the people of Ode-Remo in the Remo North Local Government Area of Ogun State. On March 13, the suspects were apprehended by the police following a distress call received by policemen at Ode-Remo Division. The suspects were identified as Habeeb Salaudeen, 24, Ezekiel Jayesimi, 30, Olamilekan Teniola, 22, and Olaitan Sonibare, 25, according to the Ogun State police spokesman, Abimbola Oyeyemi.
The suspects had reportedly invaded a residential building at COTCO Road, Ode-Remo, and engaged the police in a gun battle before escaping in a white Rav 4 car. However, luck was not on their side as they were stopped at Warewa by policemen who noticed bullet holes on their vehicle. The robbers abandoned their car and fled, but were tracked to the Mushin area of Lagos, where four members of the gang were arrested. The police spokesperson confirmed that four iPhones and 13 android phones were recovered from the suspects, and they all confessed to the commission of the crime.
The Ogun State Commissioner of Police, Frank Mba, has directed the transfer of the suspects to the State Criminal Investigation and Intelligence Department (CIID) for discreet investigation. He also ordered a manhunt for the remaining members of the gang.
