Two suspected armed robbers were arrested in the Olambe area of Akuta by the local Ifo government in Ogun state.
DSP state public relations officer Abimbola Oyeyemi made the announcement on Monday.
He said the suspects – Lukman Olanrevaju and Shola Alabi – were arrested on Sunday following an emergency call from Adjuvon police department Andrew Aquinas.
“The Berry gang operating in the Olambe area shot dead a commercial motorbike rider who was later identified as Anas Usman and took his motorbike away,” he said.
“The victim was rushed to the hospital for treatment while efforts were made with the best equipment to catch the remaining gang members.”
A police spokesman said the items found by the suspect included cut up local weapons, two live ammunition and a hijacked motorbike.
Meanwhile, State Police Commissioner CP Edward Ajogun has ordered the suspects to be immediately transferred to the State Department of Criminal Investigation and Intelligence (SCIID) for a covert and thorough investigation.
