The Ogun State Traffic Compliance and Enforcement Corps (TRACE) has said that, as part of its campaign efforts in 2018, safety advocacy would be re-introduce in school curriculum, in all tiers of education, in the State.
The Corps Commander, Cdr Seni Ogunyemi who disclosed this during an interview with pressmen at his office in Abeokuta, said the introduction of safety, right from primary schools to tertiary institutions, would make the campaign a success, noting that safe motoring was the responsibility of all citizens.
He assured that the Corps would intensify its patrols, to checkmate reckless driving, as those engaging in the act had been identified as deliberately flouting traffic rules, revealing that its mobile court would be resuscitated for effective enforcement.
“TRACE will intensify on motoring patrol to checkmate reckless drivers, as we discovered that some drivers are very adamant and don’t obey traffic law’’, Ogunyemi said.
While calling on private organisations and individuals to involve traffic management and road safety as part of their Corporate Social Responsibility, the TRACE boss said, the Corps would collaborate with the Vehicle Inspection Officers (VIO) to come up with ways of professionalising driving schools, operating in the State, to ensure standard, adding that drivers must be properly educated on safe and responsible driving.
