Miss Olayemi Alaka, a former student of African Church Grammar School, has been granted a scholarship valued at ₦4 million. This scholarship covers her tuition fees, books, academic materials, and various other expenses during her higher education.
Mrs. Bamidele Abiodun, the Wife of the Governor of Ogun State, nominated Miss Alaka for the Renewed Hope Initiatives, an Oluremi Tinubu Scholarship Programme. This nomination was in recognition of Miss Alaka’s exceptional academic achievements in 2022, where she obtained four As and five Bs in the WASSCE, along with a JAMB score of 306 in the same year.
During the presentation ceremony, Prof. Abayomi Arigbabu, the Special Adviser to the Governor on Education, Science, and Technology, outlined the scholarship package. It includes an annual award of ₦1,000,000 for four years, an HP laptop, and additional gift items.
Prof. Arigbabu congratulated Miss Alaka and encouraged her to maintain her outstanding academic performance. He attributed the excellence of learners, teachers, and schools to the significant investments made by Prince Dapo Abiodun’s administration in the education sector.
He stated, “I want to advise you to continue maintaining your outstanding performance. This scholarship is a commendable initiative from Chief (Mrs.) Oluremi Tinubu, the first lady of Nigeria, aimed at contributing meaningfully to the development of students in the country for their excellent academic achievements.”
Mrs. Abosede Edun, the Director of Education, Planning, Research, and Statistics, also praised the success of the Flagship Secondary Schools initiative by the current government, noting that it has yielded positive results.
In her expression of gratitude, the beneficiary, Mrs. Olayemi Alaka, thanked the Governor’s wife for nominating her for this scholarship award.
