On Thursday, December 9, 2021, the nation’s model station, the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation, celebrated 45 years of quality broadcasting to the public in magnificent manner.
The ceremony was colourful, as the entire crew dressed in uniform danced to God’s glory for a great trip so far, despite the hardships of previous years.
It began with an early morning prayer session, which was preceded by a joyful dance around the corporation’s grounds.
Mrs.Toyin Sogbesan, the corporation’s ecstatic General Manager, led the dance, which eventually moved outside the corporation’s premises and ended at the All Souls’ Church, Ibara Abeokuta, before the team danced happily back to the premises.
Earlier, Alhaji Yahyah Olodeoku, Chairman of the Corporation’s Board of Directors, had joined the personnel in a group shot before appearing on a special live broadcast as part of the occasion.
In response to inquiries on his appraisal of the corporation since his appointment as Board chairman, Alhaji Olodeoku stated that OGBC is a proactive station that has not strayed from its mission of providing quality broadcasting to its thronging audience.
He said “since I got on board, there is no gainsaying the fact that OGBC is a proactive station, taking the lead in the realm of Broadcasting in Nigeria. By the grace of God, the station shall continue to grow higher. I am happy to be part of you”.
” You have not dissapointed your people from the grassroots and even the people in the diaspora are listening to OGBC. We thank God that you are keeping the lead”.
On the future plans for the station, he said” At the board level, we will continue to be proactve to get means of funding for the corporation. We are being proactive”.
Alhaji Olodeoku stated that he expects OGBC to continue to play the leading role it is recognised for and to become better and stronger in the next 50 years.
Mr. Femi Adeyanju, the Corporation’s Director of Engineering, led the early morning prayer session, praying in the Christian manner, while Mr. Monsuru Lamidi prayed in the Muslim manner.
The Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Rural Development, Alhaji Tunji Kanimodo, as well as the corporation’s management personnel, were also present at the ceremony.
