To revitalise effective teaching practises and teachers’ classroom proficiency, the Ogun State government has cooperated with Teach for Nigeria and ProFuturo to train teachers under the OgunTeach programme on the fundamentals of teaching methodology required to maintain educational standards.
The Chairman of the State Universal Basic Education Board (SUBEB), Chief Femi Majekodunmi, represented by the Director of Quality Assurance, Mrs. Kehinde Anifowose, declared open the workshop with the theme “Pedagogical Digital Skills” in Abeokuta, saying the training has become imperative to integrate the new set of intended classroom teachers with the basic knowledge, skills, and values of teaching.

He underlined that teaching is a highly regarded profession and that practitioners should be properly equipped, advising aspiring teachers to keep in mind that the profession is not for the lazy.
The SUBEB president emphasised the importance of the training, which includes fundamental digital skills and excellent lesson plans for achieving efficient classroom management abilities for learning and child development, ethics and values, language and reading, and so on.
Mrs. Tope Akintunde, the Project Manager, emphasised in her remarks that the innovative training programme aims to position teachers as classroom leaders by increasing their pedagogical and organised curriculum and providing them with teaching materials and peer-to-peer assistance.
Mrs. Akinboro Motunrayo and Mr. Akinde Monday, speaking on behalf of other participants, thanked the government for the training exercise, which would enrich and prepare them for the challenge ahead, and urged their colleagues to use the learned skills in their various schools.
