The Ogun State Government has again called on residents especially market Men and Women across the State to make market environmental sanitation exercise a daily voluntary affair.
The State Deputy Governor, Chief (Mrs) Yetunde Onanuga who made the call in a press release described market environmental sanitation as an action geared towards improving the quality of the environment and reducing the spate of diseases.
Mrs Onanuga disclosed that environmental sanitation within homes and markets was for the good of the people and should be observed voluntarily and not until Government enforces such laws with sanctions.
She however disclosed that Government was poised to enforce strict compliance of the environmental sanitation laws whenever people fail to comply with them, adding that the Public Enlightenment/Education and Enforcement Exercise embarked upon by the Government was in order to change the attitude of the people towards the exercise.
She therefore enjoined market men and women, shop and stall owners to voluntarily participate regularly in the sanitation of their environment especially on Thursdays between the hours of 7 and 10am and to desist from acts of indiscriminate disposal of waste in water ways during downpour in order to avoid flooding and on road median which defaces the aesthetics of the State.
