Remo and Ijebu leaders reject Amosun’s plan ned zoning of 2019 governorship ticket to the west.
The Governor has been quoted to say that he will support APC candidate from the Ogun West for the party’s 2019 governorship ticket. That, he will oppose a candidate from Ogun Central where he hails from.
The Remo and Ijebu leaders from Ogun East senatorial district of the State have rejected moves by the Governor to support any candidate for the party’s 2019 governorship ticket.
The Ogun East leaders made their position known in a parley with him on Monday at his Oke Mosan office in Abeokuta.
The visiting party leaders from the East told the Governor not to support any candidate or senatorial district in the 2019 governorship race.
Governor Amosun was told to allow candidates from the two senatorial districts, Ogun East and Ogun West to battle for the ticket without favouring any one.
According to them, what they had expected from Amosun was to hand over to a candidate from Ogun East in 2019, before rotating to the Ogun West in 2023.
According to Rockcity FM, the Governor rejected the position of the elders and adjourned the meeting indefinitely.
The meeting lasted for about an hour and had in attendance the Deputy Governor, Mrs. Yetunde Onanuga.Others were members of the state executive council from Ogun East. The party leaders include Tokunbo Oshin, Senator Dipo Odujirin, and Doctor Gbolade Osinowo among others.
