The new Ogun State Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro has assured of readiness to reposition the Ogun State Broadcasting Corporation (OGBC) to be in good stead in order to compete favourably with other radio stations in the gateway State.
He gave the assurance today when he received the Management Team of the Broadcasting Corporation, led by its General Manager, Mrs. Toyin Sogbesan, who were on a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
According to Dr. Aigoro, for OGBC to continue to do what it is best known for, there is a need for its repositioning to meet today’s broadcasting standards in terms of equipment and manpower so that the benefits of the investment into the sector can be fully reaped.
Describing OGBC as a medium that has provided mentorship to so many people in the business, the Head of Service assured that all demands put before him would be looked into.
“It will gladden my heart if OGBC is well repositioned to be in a good stead to compete favourably with other radio stations. The Ogun State Ministry of Information and Strategy will work together with the Corporation to achieve its mandate”, Dr. Aigoro said.
Speaking earlier, the General Manager of OGBC, Mrs. Toyin Sogbesan said as the station would turn 45 years on December 9, 2021, there is need for total overhaul of its equipment, especially its transmitter for smooth running, efficiency and effectiveness.
She also solicited for the take off of Ijinle FM, that would serve as the indigenous arm of the broadcasting station and pledged the continued support and loyalty of the workers to the state government.
In another development, Optometrists have been called upon to do the needful with available equipment in order to keep improving on service delivery to the people of the State.
The Head of Service, Dr. Nafiu Aigoro made the call when he had in audience members of the Nigerian Optometric Association, Ogun State Chapter, who came on a courtesy visit to his office at Oke-mosan, Abeokuta.
Dr. Aigoro said as government health workers, they should be able to bridge the gap by providing more robust services to improve the eye care of the citizens and advised them to always work harmoniously with other health practitioners in their various facilities so that patients can benefit from their expertise.
Earlier, the Chairperson of the Association, Dr. Ngozi Erue said the essence of the visit was to congratulate the Head of Service on his appointment and to seek for the right standing of Optometry practice in the State as it is not being practised the way it should due to lack of manpower and other challenges confronting them.
