The National Examinations Council (NECO) has released the November/December 2016 Senior School Certificate Examinations results with Ogun state topping the performance chart.
Addressing Journalists at the Council’s Headquarters in Minna, the Registrar and Chief Executive of NECO, Prof. Charles Uwakwe, said the release of the results barely 60 days after the exams were conducted, was another landmark achievement by the body.
The analysis of the general performance by states sees Ogun leading with 5,183 students obtaining five credits and above in all subjects representing 91.13 percent, while Zamfara state records the worst result with only 59 candidates obtaining 5 credits and above representing 25.6 percent.
He disclosed that a total of 47,941 candidates registered, out of whom 47,118 sat for the examinations, while the number of candidates with five credits including Mathematics and English Language was put at 28,530 representing 60.55 percent.
The registrar also said 46,024 candidates sat for English language with 33,303 credit pass representing 72.34 percent, while out of the 45,574 that sat for Mathematics, a total 39,454 candidates got credit pass representing 86.54 percent.
The analysis also shows that 7,699 representing16.3 percent were involved in different cases of malpractices, with Abia topping the list of states with highest number of cases, while Edo state has least cases.
In the analysis of malpractices by subject, English Language has the highest case with 1,162 candidates involved.
Uwakwe advised candidates to access their results on NECO website www.mynecoexam.com, using their Examination Registration Number and scratch cards.
