Nigeria and South Africa is to establish a Youth dialogue to further deepen relations between the two countries.
Mr Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs and his South African counterpart, Naledi Pandor made this known in Abuja at the 10th session of Nigeria South Africa Bi-National Commission.
In October 1999, a South Africa-Nigeria Bi- National Commission was established by the South African and Nigerian government.
The Bi-national Commission was established to consolidate and strengthen bilateral political, economic and trade relations between the two African countries.
Mr. Geoffrey Onyeama, Nigeria’s Minister of Foreign Affairs said Nigeria and South Africa have put in a lot of effort towards strengthening the long standing relationship between the two giants in Africa.
He explained further that Bi-National Commissions which were traditionally handled at ministerial levels, President Buhari had directed that Nigeria-South Africa relations be handled at Presidential level to drive benefits for both countries.
The South African Minister of International Relations and Cooperation, Mrs. Naledi Pandor who appreciates the Federal Government for hosting the meeting at a time many countries have closed it borders to South Africa as a result COVID-19 restrictions.
President Muhammadu Buhari and his South African counterpart will sign the youth consultative dialogue agreement in Abuja on a latter day to be announced.
