Mr Donatus Mathew, the Labour Party candidate, was declared the winner of the Kaura Federal Constituency seat in the presidential and National Assembly elections held in Kaura Local Government Area of Kaduna State on February 25.
According to the Returning Officer, Prof. Elijah Ella, Mathew received 10,508 votes, defeating his closest opponent, who is also the incumbent, Gideon Gwani of the PDP, who received 10,000 votes, and Prof. Benjamin Gugong of the APC, who received 9,919 votes. With 5,354 votes, NNPP’s Simon Na’Allah finished fourth.
He explained that out of the 101,624 registered voters in the LGA, 36,983 were accredited.
He went on to say that 36,133 of the 36,983 registered voters cast ballots.
“Mr Donatus Mathew of the Labour Party, having satisfied the requirements of the law by scoring the highest votes, is hereby declared the winner,” he stated.
