Following a private meeting with President Muhammadu Buhari on Sunday in Daura, Katsina State, APC presidential candidate Bola Tinubu confirmed former Borno State Governor Kashim Shettima as his running mate, according to Ogun Today.
There have been a variety of reactions to the ruling party’s choice to run a Muslim-Muslim ticket for president in 2023, with many Nigerians criticizing the APC and Tinubu.
Tuesday, Keyamo encouraged the populace through a series of tweets posted to his Twitter account to take the nation closer to the goal of making humanity their religion.
The leader of the All Progressives Congress (APC) pleaded with Nigerians not to fall prey to Pastor or Imam deception and cast their votes for candidates based only on their religious affiliation.
But he urged Nigerians to base their choices on Tinubu’s record as governor of Lagos State, not on the Muslim-Muslim ticket debate.
“A famous quote: Are you Hindu, Muslim, or Christian?” he wrote. The little child responded, “I’m starving!” Ordinary citizens simply need competent administration, not the elites’ self-serving attempts to smuggle religion into politics.
“We need to lead the nation in making HUMANITY our religion!
No pastor or imam should mislead us regular Nigerians into voting for or against anyone based on the ticket’s religious affiliation.
“Let the argument start about how @officialABAT performed in his role as governor of Lagos State, not about the issue of the same faith ticket.”
