JAMB releases 10 new requirements for foreign students applying to study in Nigeria.
The Joint Admissions and Matriculation Board (JAMB) has introduced ten new criteria for the admission of foreign students to Nigerian universities, as reported by Sunday PUNCH.
These fresh requirements replace the previous set of criteria that were released by the board in November 2019. The updated requirements were outlined in a memorandum obtained by our correspondent in Abuja on Saturday. The memo was dated October 10, 2023, and signed by Fabian Okoro, the Director of Information Technology Services at JAMB.
The memo states, “The university must submit a list of all new foreign candidates seeking current admission to the State JAMB Office, accompanied by a letter of indemnity signed by the Head of the institution. The indemnity letter should state, ‘I confirm that the listed candidates forwarded to JAMB meet all the admission requirements of my institution, and I hereby indemnify JAMB against any inaccuracies in the claims.'”

“The same list and letter, as described in point (1), should also be sent to the JAMB Director of Admissions through the CAPS mail system. The institution should instruct the candidates to visit the State JAMB Office to create their individual profiles on the facility platform. It’s important to note that only the State JAMB Office located in the institution’s vicinity can assist these candidates.”
“At the State JAMB Office, candidates will complete the FRESH FOREIGN Application form online, which will be exclusively available at that office. Candidates who are not included in the list previously sent by the institution will be rejected by the State JAMB Office and will not be able to process their applications using the system.”
“After completing the registration at the JAMB Office, each candidate will receive a Registration Number and a corresponding Transaction 10. They are required to print and submit the automatically generated Indemnity Form to their institution for the Head of the Institution’s signature, reaffirming JAMB’s confidence in the accuracy of the information provided by the candidate.”
“The Head of the Institution will then authorize the candidate’s application online, making the candidate’s details available on CaPS, enabling the institution to propose and recommend the candidate to JAMB for approval.”
