Following the signing of ‘’letter of intent’’ between the Ogun State Government and In-vivo, France-based agency, at the State House in Abuja, to regenerate 108,000 hectares of degraded lands in the forest and game reserves of Imeko and Aworo in the State, Governor, Ibikunle Amosun has assured people of the State of greater benefits
Addressing newsmen at his office in Abeokuta, the Governor said, “the agreement will ensure that our environment is safe from the challenges being faced by climate change”, adding that the agency had agreed to invest a ready fund of 200 million dollars to revive the degraded forests and games reserves.
According to him, “this partnership will bring necessary development to our reserves, trees would be planted and the environment would be well taken care of.
Describing the project as a major community, with power, water, and game reserves, Amosun noted that it will also have necessary infrastructures, to include biomass, carbon credit, and good road network.
The governor disclosed that the project would be private sector driven saying that with the “Ile-Dotun” project, Ogun State indigenes would be gainfully employed.
He said the signing of the Letter of Intent, was part of events of the visit of France President Mr. Emmanuel Macron, to Nigeria, to concretize the prior meetings of the State with the French agency.
